How to set Artifex Studio’s model defaults without locking every job
Set the four Artifex Studio model defaults, then decide when an individual image or video deserves an override.

The short answer
In Studio, open Settings → AI Models and choose a default for text, image, lyric alignment, and video. A default applies when a generation job does not specify its own model. Image and video can also be selected for individual jobs, so a routine model can remain the baseline while a distinctive campaign asset gets a different treatment.
First, separate a default from a creative decision
Defaults eliminate repeated setup. They should represent what you are comfortable using on an ordinary day, not the most expensive option you might ever need. Studio supplies provider keys as a managed service. The model list is grouped by provider, and the price hint beside text models describes a typical call; actual text usage depends on tokens. Image and video prices are tied to the selected model and job settings.
Use a simple starting rule: choose a dependable text model for everyday copy, a familiar image model for reference work, and a video model whose cost you are willing to test repeatedly. Keep the lyric aligner on the option that produces acceptable timing for your vocal style. Then change only one default at a time and compare the next few outputs.
When to override
A default is not a promise to use the same model for every shot. Override the image model when a cover needs a different rendering style or a new artist look needs a controlled test. Override video for a scene with a particular motion challenge. For text, Studio also accepts a per-job model choice in supported pipeline calls; the Settings choice remains the fallback.
Review the first few outputs
Before a generation, write down three pass criteria. Example: “The jacket silhouette matches the artist sheet; the face is recognizable; the image leaves clean space for the title.” If the output fails, change the prompt or reference first when the failure is instructional. Change the model when repeated failures suggest the model is a poor fit for the task.
