Cancel AI generation and pay for what already ran
How Studio reservations, cancellation checkpoints, failed jobs, and fair refunds work for generated music-release assets.

The short answer
Studio generation jobs reserve credits up front. If you cancel, Studio asks whether to stop and refund unused credits, then stops at the next checkpoint. Work already made is kept and charged; unused reservation is returned. Failed jobs settle the same way, so delivered assets remain in the library.
What cancel means
Cancellation is not a magic rewind. Studio asks "Stop and refund unused credits?", then stops at the next checkpoint. Anything already made stays in the library and is charged. The unused part of the reservation is refunded. That keeps the accounting fair for both the artist and the underlying provider costs.
Two real examples
In one quick-video test, the job was cancelled immediately. The 21-credit reservation was refunded in full, while 4 credits of text work that had already run were charged. In another hybrid failure, the job kept 89 of 93 reserved credits because 2 images and 1 clip had already been delivered to the library, then refunded the remaining 4 credits.
How to read the ledger
Separate reservation from settlement. A reservation is the maximum expected cost. Settlement is what actually ran. If a job produces usable assets before it stops, those assets are not free drafts. They are part of the release library and should be evaluated like any other output.
When to cancel
Cancel when the direction is clearly wrong, the source choice was mistaken, or the campaign no longer needs that asset. Do not cancel only because an early step is incomplete; some jobs need images or clips before the final composition makes sense.
Connect the work
Go deeper before the next release decision.
Control belongs in the job
Start ambitious work without losing sight of the ledger.
Use Studio to reserve credits, review generated assets as they land, and cancel at a checkpoint when the job no longer serves the release.
Start a controlled jobFrequently asked
Questions, answered.
- Do I lose assets when I cancel?
- No. Assets already made remain in the library and are charged. The unused reservation is refunded.
- Are failed jobs fully refunded?
- Not always. Failed jobs settle based on what already ran and what assets were delivered, then refund unused reservation.
