Fixed or mix? Choose the right video recipe for a song
Choose fixed video recipes for reproducible edits and mix recipes for varied cuts through Studio’s MCP generation tools.

The short answer
Use a fixed recipe when the cut must follow a precise visual rule or when you need to reproduce a result. Use mix when you want several edits of the same song to vary in pacing, opening, and loop behavior. In Studio’s current MCP generation tools, explicit settings stay pinned; mix only varies axes you leave open. The visual editor does not currently expose this recipe switch.
Fixed is a production promise
A fixed recipe is useful for a campaign master, a client-approved format, or a test where the cut itself must stay constant. Specify the segment length, opening strategy, and loop behavior that serve the musical moment. Then change only the visual source or the model you intend to compare. If you change pacing, shot selection, and model together, you will not know what made one version better.
Fixed also helps when a lyric or gesture lands at an exact time. Reproducibility matters in revision: a producer should be able to ask for a stronger second shot without discovering that the entire edit rhythm has changed.
Mix is for finding variation
The current Studio pipeline defaults to mix when no recipe is specified. That means unset recipe axes can vary by video while explicit choices remain. Use it when you need several genuinely different candidate cuts from the same track, especially before you know which opening or loop earns attention. Review the resolved recipe alongside the asset; variation without provenance is just a folder of unexplained files.
Keep the chosen edit reproducible
Mix is not a substitute for an art direction. Keep the song, artist identity, and visual motifs coherent. Let pacing and opening vary, then choose the cut that best serves the music. After selection, pin the winning decisions for a final export or future companion asset.

Put the insight to work
Find the edit rhythm that fits the track.
Through the MCP generation tools, run one fixed recipe and one mix recipe from the same section. Keep the chosen recipe with the approved asset.
